About Sign
Sign is an attestation protocol turning facts about identity, holdings, income and residency into verifiable claims callable by contracts and apps, with TokenTable executing vesting and distribution. It addresses sybil resistance and manual review costs in eligibility campaigns, where projects cannot confirm the party behind an address without collecting documents. Issuers sign claims, hashes go on-chain while source data stays off, verifiers check only signature and validity, and credentials can expire or be revoked.
In practice it operates as infrastructure: public bodies build national identity registries on it, projects distribute tokens by rule through TokenTable. It differs from generic DID in that issuance comes from an institution rather than self-assertion, so verification rests on issuer reputation and suits account opening, sybil defense and compliance gating. In July 2026 Sign worked with Bhutan's digital identity program on a national identity platform for Sierra Leone.
Sign's development milestones include a $25.5 million strategic financing led by YZi Labs, which strengthened its sovereign infrastructure ambitions. The protocol was selected for the RootData List 2025 "Top 100 Projects", recognizing its influence in the Web3 space. Sign officially launched its App version, expanding accessibility for token distribution and credential verification. Additionally, Coinbase added SIGN to its spot trading roadmap and subsequently launched trading on April 2, marking a significant exchange adoption milestone. These events collectively highlight Sign's progression from protocol development to mainstream market integration.
Unlocks: On June 29 the vesting table was revised, ending monthly releases after July and shifting the remainder to 25% tranches on January 15 2027, July 15 2027 and January 15 2028, with a final 12.5% in April 2028; an early-July release was worth $11.72 million, 17.61% of the float.
Progress: On July 7 Sign signed an MoU with Bhutan NDI to build a national digital identity platform for Sierra Leone; another 10.5% of circulating supply unlocks on November 15; 2.84 billion SIGN circulate at about $0.0127 in early October.
On 23 March 2026, Sign launched Orange Basic Income, a 100 million SIGN programme that allocates up to 25 million tokens to long-term holders using self-custody wallets in its first season, aiming to reduce exchange-held supply. On 29 June the team restructured its unlock schedule, replacing monthly linear releases with tranches on 15 January 2027, 15 July 2027 and later dates to ease persistent supply pressure.
On the business side, the national central bank digital currency system Sign built for Kyrgyzstan moved toward deployment during 2026, with its on-chain attestation and verifiable credential infrastructure used for government digital identity and currency programmes. The company also announced an Abu Dhabi office for 2026 and a national rollout of the currency system starting in the third quarter, while completing a Coinbase spot listing and several protocol contract upgrades during the year.
Future strategy and roadmap: Framed as sovereign infrastructure, Sign starts the national rollout of Kyrgyzstan's digital currency system in the third quarter of 2026 and extends beyond one country to government clients in the Middle East and Central Asia. It converges certification, credential and token-distribution product lines onto one compliance infrastructure, uses its Abu Dhabi office to reach the Gulf, and advances multi-country CBDC and digital-identity projects.
